The Artist
My name is Carmela Sosa and my business is Fresno Face Art. I live in Fresno with my husband and four children. I previously worked in pediatric health care, but was always a closet artist. After 9 years in the health care field, I chose to stay home with our children in early 2005. I first started painting for my childrens' birthday parties in late 2006, and have loved it ever since! After being home with my children for several years, I decided to start a face painting business - Fresno Face Art - in 2007. I continually try to improve my skills and broaden my servies by attending conferences, workshops and classes.
I have trained under world-renown artists such as Pashur, one of the most incredible body artists in the world; Marcela "Mama Clown" Murad, founder of Silly Farm; Jinny Make-Up Artiste, the chief make-up artist for Cirque du Soleil; Lynne Jamieson, an internationally acclaimed face and body painter; & Kurt Drake, special effects guru, and April Powell, a wonderfully sweet and extremely talented teacher and artist - both hailing from Wolfe Face Art and FX.
I am a proud member of FPBAA, the Face Painting and Body Art Association; and SoCaFABA, the Southern California Face and Body Art Association.
Look How Far I've Come!

The photo on the left was my first attempt at a princess crown in October, 2006.
It took me a painful 10 minutes to complete, as I struggled with where to place the swirls. As difficult as it seemed, the crown only consisted of a handful of crude swirly lines and a stick-on gem in the middle.
On the right is a more recent rendition of a crown, which now only takes me a few minutes to paint.
